13 July 2021

The ACT Government will lift its watch and assess requirements for the Northern Territory and Western Australia from 6:30pm Tuesday 13 July 2021, due to the improved COVID-19 situation in these jurisdictions.

This means anyone who has been in these areas can now travel freely to the ACT and there is no longer the requirement to complete a declaration form if you have been in the NT and/or WA.

Areas of the NT and WA will no longer be considered as geographical areas of risk. Staff, visitors and volunteers who have been to these areas in the last 14 days can resume visiting or attending work in high-risk settings. High-risk settings include hospitals, residential aged care facilities, correctional facilities and residential accommodation facilities that support people who require frequent, close personal care and who are vulnerable to severe disease.

Travel requirements for NSW, Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania remain in place at this time.

Keeping Canberra safe and strong

Please remember that the COVID-19 situation in states and territories can change quickly. If you are intending to, or have recently travelled interstate, keep checking the public health advice and any exposure locations in the relevant state or territory before travelling and for 14 days after returning.

ACT residents and visitors should continue to keep Canberra safe and strong by:

  • staying home if unwell
  • using Check In CBR
  • getting tested for COVID-19 if experiencing the mildest of COVID-like symptoms
  • getting a COVID-19 vaccine when eligible
  • physically distancing from people they do not know
  • practising careful hand and respiratory hygiene.
