12 August 2021

In line with the NSW Government’s announcement last night of a lockdown for additional local government areas (LGAs), the ACT Government is declaring the following LGAs as COVID-19 affected areas:

Bogan Shire Council

Bourke Shire Council

Brewarrina Shire Council

Coonamble Shire Council

Gilgandra Shire Council

Narromine Shire Council

Walgett Shire Council

Warren Shire Council

Anyone who left these LGAs on or after 5 August 2021 is required to quarantine for 14 days after leaving the affected areas or until otherwise advised ACT Health.

If you left these LGAs on or after 5 August 2021 and are already in the ACT, you must quarantine immediately and call ACT Health on 02 5124 6500.

Further information on quarantine is available here.

Anyone entering the ACT from these areas, including returning ACT residents, must complete an online exemption form within 72 hours prior to arriving in the ACT and enter quarantine immediately upon return to the ACT. ACT residents will automatically receive an exemption to enter the ACT and will be supported to safely return to their homes.

The exemption form will be available on the COVID-19 website from 10.00am today.

Non-ACT residents will be unable to enter the ACT without an approved exemption. Exemptions will only be approved in highly exceptional circumstances. Even if an exemption is approved, people receiving an exemption will be required to quarantine. If people do not have suitable premises to quarantine in they will be required to quarantine in an approved hotel at their own expense.

The situation in regional NSW is serious and restrictions could be implemented for other regions at short notice.
