If you have tested positive to COVID-19, you must isolate for 5 days from the day of your positive test (the day of the COVID-19 test is day 0).

This follows the recent advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) to National Cabinet.

If you continue to feel unwell after 5 days of isolation, you should stay home and avoid contact with others until your symptoms have gone or you’re feeling much better.

If you are well enough to leave home, for another 2 days after your clearance from isolation period, you must:

  • wear a mask when in public indoor spaces
  • not enter a high-risk setting or work in a care facility.

People who test positive on a rapid antigen test (RAT) must continue to report their result using the RAT positive result registration form.

You should also get tested for COVID-19 if you experience symptoms 28 days after a COVID-19 infection.

A reminder that free rapid antigen tests are available for concession card holders in ACT libraries. They can also be purchased from pharmacies and supermarkets.

The AHPPC further notes that while balancing a proportionate approach to isolation for all Australians, it is important to ensure the continued protection of those most vulnerable to severe illness from COVID-19 especially in settings where there is increased risk of outbreaks occurring.

People who are at risk of severe illness from COVID-19 may benefit from additional care and support or be eligible for oral antivirals.

More information on COVID-19 treatment and eligibility is available on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Further advice on people who have tested positive to COVID-19 in the ACT is also available on the ACT COVID-19 website.
