20 August 2021

There have been 12 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the past 24 hours.

There are now 94 active cases associated with this outbreak. This reflects the removal of one duplicate case from previously reported numbers.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 18,200 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT cases and exposure sites.

There is currently one (1) patient in a Canberra hospital.

It was another big day of testing in the ACT yesterday with over 6,800 tests collected across the ACT from both Government and Capital Pathology sites.

A total of 7,882 negative testresults were returned in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered now at 181,174.

We now have over 260 exposure locations listed for the ACT.

Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT COVID-19 website, with exposure sites expected to grow in the coming days.

Affected transport routes

Today, will see the addition of some public transport routes to our exposure locations but also the downgrade of all public transport routes to a classification of a casual contact site.

A full list of the affected transport routes can be found on the exposure locations page on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Testing update

From this morning, all sites are available to the general public for testing.

We have continued to see very high numbers of testing through both our Government and private testing providers as well as Capital Pathology.

Thank you to all of the people behind the scenes, as well as our frontline health staff, who have been working so hard to test as many people as possible. Also thank you to the pathology teams that are working around the clock analysing the samples so quickly.

Stay in your region

Please stay in your local region where possible and don’t travel to other parts of Canberra to shop for essential items or exercise. Reducing movement across Canberra helps stop the spread of COVID-19.

Remember all community fitness stations and playgrounds are closed. This is for everyone's safety to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Stay COVID safe

We want to thank Canberrans for doing the right thing and staying at home. This is the single most important thing we can all do at this time to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

We remind people that if undertaking essential activity out of the home to precautions to protect yourself and your family. Wear a mask, maintain good hand hygiene, keep your distance and use the Check In CBR app.
