Before getting tested
Take steps to reduce the risk of transmission when seeking medical attention.
Limit your exposure to other people while you are unwell.
While you have symptoms, stay home except for when you need to seek medical attention.
Travelling to and from the clinic
When travelling to and from getting tested, do not go to any public places such as shops, cafés and restaurants, or your workplace.
If possible, use a private mode of transport, such as a private car, to get to a testing facility.
If you are in quarantine, and need testing, you must go directly to the testing centre and directly back to your quarantine location.
You must use your own private transport (e.g. a private car) to get to the testing centre and NOT use a taxi, rideshare or public transport.
If you don’t have a private mode of transport
If you require testing but are not in quarantine, you can use public transport, rideshare, or taxi to get to a testing centre.
Make sure you:
- Sit in the backseat of a taxi or rideshare
- Wear a mask if you have one
- Practise good respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette
- Maintain physical distance from all other people when possible, including transport staff, drivers and passengers
- Wash your hands before and after travel
If you are in quarantine and require testing, you must use a private mode of transport.
If you do not have private transport, please contact ACT Health on the number provided when you entered quarantine.
