Extension of stay-at-home requirement for Greater Melbourne
In line with the Victorian Government’s lockdown extension for Greater Melbourne, the ACT Government will extend the stay-at-home requirement for Greater Melbourne until at least 11.59pm on Thursday 19 August 2021.
The stay-at-home requirement applies to all travellers who have spent any time in Greater Melbourne on or after 5 August 2021.
If you have been in Greater Melbourne since 5 August 2021, you must abide by the stay-at-home requirement until at least 11.59pm Thursday 19 August or until 14 days have passed since you left Greater Melbourne. ACT Health will directly contact people to advise when they have been released from the stay-at-home requirement.
With COVID-19 cases now in multiple jurisdictions across Australia, people need to be alert and be prepared for the situation to change quickly. All Canberrans should minimise any interstate travel at this time and be prepared to reconsider their plans at short notice.
Canberrans should not be travelling to any areas subject to quarantine or a stay-at-home requirement.
ACT Health is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation in other jurisdictions very closely and will put in place further directions if required in order to keep our community safe.
Lifting of stay-at-home requirement for Cairns and Yarrabah
Due to the improved situation in Cairns, the ACT Government will lift the stay-at-home requirement for the Cairns Regional Council and Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council. This will come into effect at 4.00pm today.
However, travellers who have spent any time in the Cairns Regional Council and Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council areas in the previous 14 days seeking to enter the ACT after 4.00pm 11 August 2021 will still be required to complete a declaration form within 24 hours prior to arriving in the ACT. This allows ACT Health to contact and advise people directly should the COVID-19 situation in these areas evolve.
ACT Health will directly contact people who have been subject to the Cairns Regional Council or Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council stay-at-home requirements to advise them of the update.
