Quarantine requirement for Tamworth Regional Council

In response to the NSW Government’s announcement of a lockdown for the Tamworth Local Government Area, the ACT Government will declare Tamworth LGA a COVID affected area. Anyone who left Tamworth LGA on or after Thursday 5 August 2021 will be required to quarantine for 14 days after leaving the COVID affected area.

If you left Tamworth LGA on or after Thursday 5 August and are already in the ACT, you must quarantine immediately and call ACT Health on 02 5124 6500.

Quarantine requirement for Byron Bay Shire, Ballina Shire, City of Lismore and Richmond Valley Council LGAs  

The NSW Government has also announced a brief lockdown for the Byron Bay Shire, Ballina Shire, City of Lismore and Richmond Valley Council Local Government Areas.  In response, the ACT Government will declare these areas as COVID affected. Anyone who left these areas on or after 31 July 2021 will be required to quarantine for 14 days after leaving the COVID affected area.

If you left the LGAs on or after 31 July 2021 and are already in the ACT, you must quarantine immediately and call ACT Health on 02 5124 6500.

Anyone seeking to enter the ACT from any of these affected LGAs, including returning ACT residents, must complete an online exemption form within 72 hours prior to arriving in the ACT and enter quarantine immediately upon entering the ACT.

ACT residents will automatically receive an exemption to enter following confirmation of residency and suitability of a quarantine premises.

Non-ACT residents will be unable to enter the ACT without an approved exemption. Exemptions will only be approved in highly exceptional circumstances. Even if an exemption is approved, people receiving an exemption will be required to quarantine. If people do not have suitable premises to quarantine in they will be required to quarantine in an approved hotel at their own expense.

The updated declaration and exemption forms will be available on the ACT COVID-19 website from 9pm tonight.

Stay-at-home requirement for regional Victoria lifted

Due to the improved situation in regional Victoria, the stay-at-home requirement will be lifted at 11:59pm tonight, 9 August 2021. ACT Health will directly contact people who have been subject to the stay-at-home requirement for regional Victoria to advise them of the update.

At this stage, the stay-at-home requirement for Greater Melbourne will remain in place until at least 11:59pm on 12 August 2021.

There are no restrictions in place for travel from regional Victoria.  However, all Canberrans should minimise any interstate travel at this time and be prepared to reconsider their plans at short notice. Canberrans should not be travelling to any areas subject to quarantine or a stay-at-home requirement.

With COVID-19 cases now in multiple jurisdictions across Australia, people need to be alert and be prepared for the situation to change quickly.
