The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) released a statement today recommending a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine as part of the primary course in individuals who are severely immunocompromised.

It is a third dose – to complete the regular course of vaccination – for a very specific cohort of vulnerable Australians to ensure they have the highest level of protection available against COVID-19.

ACT Health is currently working with the Commonwealth Government to determine how third doses will be delivered to eligible persons in the ACT.

Please be aware that we are not taking bookings for third vaccine doses at this time.

If you are severely immunocompromised, we encourage you to reach out to your GP or specialist to discuss your individual circumstances and whether a third dose is right for you.

There is currently no recommendation for the general population to receive a booster vaccine dose.

We will provide more information here when it becomes available.
