06 October 2021

There have been 28 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.

Of these cases, 19 are linked to known cases or ongoing clusters. 11 cases were in quarantine during their infectious period and five (5) spent some time in the community while infectious and may present a risk of transmission to others.

There are now 663 cases who have recovered with 14 in the past 24 hours. This means there are now 395 active cases associated with this outbreak.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with just under 1,600 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

As at 8pm yesterday there were 16 patients in ACT hospitals, including seven (7) in intensive care and four (4) of these cases requiring ventilation.

Sadly, ACT Health has been notified of the death of a female in her 70s with COVID-19.

The person had been receiving end of life care at the Calvary Haydon Aged Care Facility prior to being diagnosed with COVID-19.

ACT Health extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of this person at this difficult time.

This brings the total number of lives lost as part of this outbreak to six (6), and the total number since the start of the pandemic to nine (9).

More than 4,400 tests were collected across the ACT yesterday, from both Government and private providers. There were 2,682 negative test results in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered at ACT Government Clinics now at 339,506.

We have over 380 current exposure locations listed for the ACT. Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Stay COVID safe

We know that when we continue to do the right thing and take the appropriate COVID safe precautions, we are able to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

When outside the home make sure you are protecting yourself and your loved ones by:

  • wearing a mask and wearing it properly
  • maintaining good hand hygiene
  • physical distancing from people outside of your household – at least 1.5 metres, and
  • checking in everywhere you go with the Check In CBR app.
