01 January 2021

There have been 18 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.

Of these cases, 13 are linked to known cases or ongoing clusters, with three (3) in quarantine during their infectious period, and 15 in the community for part of their infectious period.

There are now 72 cases that have recovered, which means there are now 255 active cases associated with this outbreak.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 1,100 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

There are currently 10 patients in ACT hospitals, including three (3) in intensive care with one (1) requiring ventilation.

Over 2,700 tests were collected across the ACT yesterday, from both Government and private providers.

ACT Pathology, along with our private providers, returned 2,726 negative test results in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered now at 217,237.

We have over 240 current exposure locations listed for the ACT. Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Stay COVID Safe

We continue to urge Canberrans to get tested with any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild.

COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, or runny or blocked nose.

We remind Canberrans that the ACT remains in lockdown and that its important people are sensible and continue to do the right thing by staying home and staying within their local areas. We know this is a challenging time for everyone, but this is the single most important thing we can do to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

When outside the home, people should also be taking precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones, by wearing a mask, maintaining good hand hygiene, physical distancing and using the Check In CBR app.
