28 September 2021

There have been 13 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.

Of these cases, 11 are linked to known cases or ongoing clusters. One (1) case was in quarantine during their infectious period, seven (7) spent varying degrees of time in the community while infectious and five (5) remain under early investigation.

There are now 538 cases who have recovered with 25 in the past 24 hours. This means there are now 243 active cases associated with this outbreak.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 1,300 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

There are currently eight (8) patients in ACT hospitals, including three (3) in intensive care requiring ventilation.

More than 3,400 tests were collected across the ACT yesterday, from both Government and private providers. There were 2,260 negative test results in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered at ACT Government Clinics now at 306,896.

We have over 450 current exposure locations listed for the ACT. Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Get tested early

We strongly urge Canberrans to get tested with the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms and as soon as symptoms start.

Our investigations have identified an increase in the number of people waiting five days or more after symptoms to get tested. This is concerning and way too late.

So, if you have any symptoms at all, do not go to work and organise to get tested as soon as possible.

As our restrictions ease, the need for testing will be more important than ever to ensure early identification of cases and help minimise transmission in the community.

COVID-19 symptoms most commonly include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, or runny or blocked nose.

Further information on all potential COVID-19 symptoms and getting tested is on the ACT COVID-19 website.
