25 August 2021

There have been nine (9) new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.

Of these cases, three (3) were in quarantine during their infectious period. Of the remaining six (6)four (4) were infectious in the community for at least part of their infectious period, and two (2) are still being assessed.

There are now 176 active cases associated with this outbreak.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 10,800 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

There are currently seven (7) patients in ACT hospitals, of whom five (5) are receiving care for COVID-19, including one (1) requiring ventilation.

Over 6,600 tests were collected across the ACT yesterday, from both Government and private providers.

ACT Pathology, along with our private providers, returned 6,546 negative testresults in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered now at 194,132.

We now have over 400 exposure locations listed for the ACT. Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the exposure locations page.

People leaving quarantine

Many close contacts are starting to leave quarantine and many more are coming towards the end of their 14-day quarantine period.

We remind Canberrans that it’s important to remain in quarantine until a negative test result on day 12 or 13 has been received and they have been contacted by ACT Health.

ACT Health contacts people via email or text to advise of the end of their quarantine. A new dedicated option on our phone line has also been established for those close contacts who believe they are eligible for release from quarantine but are yet to hear from ACT Health.

Business support guidance

To support business to operate safely and in line with the latest health advice, some common questions and their answers have been published on the  where to get tested page.

These include questions about going into work, trades and maintenance, and advice on the types of business operations permitted.

Testing update

We remind Canberrans to continue to get tested. With active community transmission of COVID-19, it’s important for you to get tested even with the mildest of symptoms.

Today and tomorrow the Erindale Active Leisure Centre testing site will be available for people with a disability or reduced mobility.

Keep up to date on testing service arrangements through ACT Health social media channels and the where to get tested page.

Stay COVID safe

Thank you to all Canberrans for doing the right thing and staying at home. This is the single most important thing we can all do at this time to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

We remind people that if undertaking essential activity out of the home to take precautions to protect yourself and your family. Wear a mask, maintain good hand hygiene, keep your distance and use the Check In CBR app.
