21 August 2021

There have been 8 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT to 8pm yesterday. None of these cases were infectious while in the community and all were in home quarantine.

There are now 102 active cases associated with this outbreak.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 14,600 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

There are currently 2 patients in ACT hospitals. While these are positive cases, they are not in hospital for COVID-19 related issues at this time.

It was another big day of testing in the ACT yesterday with over 4,600 tests collected across the ACT from both Government and private providers.

ACT Pathology, along with our private providers returned 6,781 negative testresults in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered now at 183,807.

We now have over 290 exposure locations listed for the ACT.

Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT exposure locations page, with exposure sites expected to grow in the coming days.

Change in reporting times for case data

From today, our case data will be captured at 8pm the previous day to allow our public health response teams the time they need to analyse the data and provide more detailed information on any new cases and associated transmission information.

This means today’s numbers may seem lower as cases that have been notified from 8pm onwards will be in tomorrow’s ACT case numbers.

Testing update

There are changes to testing site operations today. These include:

  • the Brindabella drive through testing site operating at reduced hours from 8am to 4pm,
  • the Erindale Active Leisure Centre site being closed, and
  • priority testing for people with a disability or reduced mobility taking place at the Gold Creek Testing site.

Testing at our drive through testing sites at EPIC and Kambah and the Weston Creek clinic will operate as normal.

We will continue monitoring demand at sites closely and can change arrangements throughout the day as required.

For more information on opening hours visit the where to get tested page.

Stay COVID safe

We want to thank Canberrans for doing the right thing and staying at home. This is the single most important thing we can all do at this time to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

We remind people that if undertaking essential activity out of the home to precautions to protect yourself and your family. Wear a mask, maintain good hand hygiene, keep your distance and use the Check In CBR app.
