02 September 2021

There have been 12 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.

Of these cases, six (6) are linked to known cases or ongoing clusters, with four (4) in quarantine during their infectious period, and eight (8) in the community for part of their infectious period.

There are now 51 cases that have recovered, which means there are now 258 active cases associated with this outbreak.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 1,100 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

There are currently 13 patients in ACT hospitals, including four (4) in intensive care with two (2) requiring ventilation.

Over 2,500 tests were collected across the ACT yesterday, from both Government and private providers.

ACT Pathology, along with our private providers, returned 2,860 negative test results in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered now at 214,661.

We have over 230 current exposure locations listed for the ACT. Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Changes to lockdown restrictions from 5pm today

There will be some amendments to restrictions, including for lower risk outdoor activities, that will come into effect from 5pm today (2 September).

We remind Canberrans that the ACT remains in lockdown and that its important people are sensible and continue to do the right thing by staying home and staying within their local areas. We know this is a challenging time for everyone, but this is the single most important thing we can all do to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

When outside the home, people should also be taking precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones, by wearing a mask, maintaining good hand hygiene, physical distancing and using the Check In CBR app.

Further information on the amendments to restrictions is on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Canberrans urged to get tested

We urge Canberrans to get tested with any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild.

With active transmission in the ACT, testing is important to ensure we are identifying any undetected cases in the community.

COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, or runny or blocked nose.

Further information on symptoms and getting tested is on the ACT COVID-19 website.
