There have been 46 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday. This brings the total number of cases for this outbreak to 1,359.

Out of the total cases, 30 are linked to known cases or ongoing clusters with 22 of these household contacts.

18 cases were in quarantine during their whole infectious period and 16 have been assessed as presenting a risk of transmission to others.

There are now 860 cases who have recovered with 27 in the past 24 hours. This means there are now 492 active cases associated with this outbreak.

Sadly, ACT Health has been notified of a man in his 80s who has passed away with COVID-19.

The man was receiving end of life care at the Calvary Haydon Aged Care Facility before being diagnosed with COVID-19.

This brings the number of lives lost in this current outbreak to seven (7) and the total number in the ACT to 10 since the start of the pandemic.

ACT Health extends its sincere condolences to this person’s loved ones and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time.

As of 9am this morning ACT Health continues to work with over 1,600 people who have self-identified as close contacts of ACT outbreaks.

As at 8pm yesterday there were 16 patients in ACT hospitals, including six (6) in intensive care and five (5) of these cases requiring ventilation.

More than 3,417 tests were collected across the ACT yesterday, from both Government and private providers. There were more than 3,430 negative test results in the 24 hours to 9am today.

Our vaccination efforts continue across the ACT with total vaccine doses administered at ACT Government Clinics now at 362,478.

We have over 380 current exposure locations listed for the ACT. Canberrans are asked to keep up to date on new locations on the ACT COVID-19 website.

Stay COVID safe

Tomorrow the ACT lockdown ends. We encourage Canberrans to go to the ACT COVID-19 website for further details of the restrictions that will be in place in this next phase of the ACT’s Pathway Forward.

When out in the community, remember to:

  • maintain good hand hygiene
  • physical distance from people outside of your household - at least 1.5 metres, and
  • check in everywhere you go with the Check In CBR app.
