Infrastructure projects across the city are being fast-tracked to keep the economy moving and providing increased opportunities for those who may have work disrupted in other industries.

The ACT Government is fast tracking additional infrastructure projects to keep Canberra working through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Supporting Canberra's street trees and amenity

The government has redeployed existing government contractors impacted by event cancellations to remove dead trees, plant trees and maintain surrounding areas.

Jobs for Canberrans Fund

The ACT Public Service has employed additional workers on short-term contracts through the Jobs for Canberrans Fund to undertake specific tasks.

Access to Portable Long Service Leave

Legislation is being amended to provide access to Long Service Leave for workers that suffer a loss of income. Under the legislation, the Minister can permit early access to leave payments accrued by workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ACT Public Service contracts

ACT Public Service staff contracts will automatically be extended to provide job security during this difficult time.

Workers are being contacted directly through appropriate management channels.
